I just returned from a community gathering and I heard this comment during a conversation I was having with someone: “…well, you’ll never be from here.”
In that moment, I couldn’t help but wonder what this individual meant when she made that statement. We’re all from somewhere aren’t we?
We seem to put a lot of emphasis on where we are from. I’m from Canada and now call Minnesota home. This reality doesn’t make me special or different; it’s just part of my story.
The challenge is to be present where you are; to give where you are, to make a difference and provide value to the people around you … where you are.
It doesn’t matter whether I’m from here or from somewhere else. What matters is that in this moment, I am here. I am here ready to engage and ready to make a difference.
Be well and make it a great day!
