I make Minnesota my home and, to be honest, the past few weeks have been really cold. I can’t speak for everyone but I think most who live here would agree that this cold spell – albeit nothing like what we experienced last year – is getting old.
When it’s cold outside it makes it easier to put off doing things. We find joy and comfort in sleeping in just a little longer, in opting to put off to another day things we could and should do today. In fact the cold makes everything a little more challenging. It makes everything come to a standstill.
Movement changes all of this.
If we stand still, we freeze.
If we move, we create friction.
And where there is friction, there is energy.
The power is in the first step.
The same applies to reaching our goals. You won’t achieve your objective by standing still.
It’s easier to stay where you are. It’s easier to put things off. It’s easier to wait until all of the stars line up. It’s easier to let someone else do it. It’s easier to stay inside than it is to brave the cold.
It might be easier, but you and I both know it’s not where you want to be.
Bridging the gap between where you are and where you want to be starts with taking the first step.
I’m asking you to join me in the simple act of taking the first step.
No matter the goal.
No matter the destination.
Start today by taking the first step.
Once you make [the] decision, the universe conspires to make it happen. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
What are you waiting for? Join me and let’s do this.
As always, be well and make it a great day!
