“So this is Christmas, and what have you done. Another year over …”
~ John Lennon’s Happy Christmas
December is always a time to reflect; a time to look back at what we’ve accomplished during the past year. Everyone seems to have a “best of” list and I think there is some value is putting down on paper the things (books, movies, music, conversations) that had an impact on your journey. In many ways – what we read, what we listen to, the conversations we have – have a tremendous impact on the lives we live.
So here goes, my “lists” for 2012!
Great Books I Read
Of the many books I read – most of them related to interviews I was doing – here are the ones that stood out:
The 100 Startup (affiliate link) by Chris Guillebeau
Steve Jobs (affiliate link) by Walter Isaacson
The Flinch (affiliate link) by Julien Smith
The Commitment Engine (affiliate link) by John Jantsch
Great Music I Added to my Playlist
Music is a big part of my life! Here is a sample of the albums that made up the “soundtrack to my life” in 2012:
Same Love (affiliate link) by Paul Baloche
Home (affiliate link) by Nathan Tasker
The Piano Guys (affiliate link) by The Piano Guys
Through conversations, life happens and finds meaning! Of the more than 50 conversations I hosted for The Conversation Hub podcast this year, the following rise to the top as some of my favorites:
Episode 96 – my conversation with 99% Invisible Podcast Host Roman Mars.
Episode 100 – my conversation with author Chris Guillebeau.
Episode 105 – my conversation with Weekends on All Things Considered host Guy Raz.
Episode 115 – my conversation with author Monica Lee.
Episode 120 – my conversation with Take Permission Network’s Andy Traub.
So long, Farewell, Auf wiedersehen, Adieu
2012 will go down as a great year! There are several more lists I could create, but we’ll leave that for another day.
One question remains … what made your list in 2012?
Be well and make it a great day!
