Have you ever noticed that people tend to congregate around musicians and music.
Think about the last time you had a bonfire and someone pulled out a guitar. Or the lat time you went to a pub or coffee shop because they had live music that night.
Music has been referred as the language of the world but it’s also a catalyst for building community. There something special that happens when people gather to listen to or make music. That something special is simple … it’s community.
Pianos on Parade in St. Paul, Minnesota
Minnesota Public Radio featured a great story on the power of music and community earlier this week. I encourage you to read/listen to the story. You’ll be amazed at what’s happening on streets corners all over St. Paul.
I wonder what each of our communities would look like if a piano was available at a street corner or two. Just think about the conversations and stories that would be shared and told. Just think about the sense of community it would create!Images courtesy of (MPR Photo/Chris Roberts)
