In most cases, the power of people coming together is amazing. When community members unite around a common goal, incredible things can happen – policies can be changed, a new story can come to life.
For this week’s episode, we are in conversation with Jodi Rohe, BLEND Project Coordinator for the CentraCare Health Foundation located in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Jodi is no stranger to community organizing. She was a key player in the central Minnesota Smoke Free Communities Initiative and in 2006, took on a leadership role in the BLEND Initiative.
Advocating for healthy communities is part of Jodi’s DNA.
BLEND (Better Living: Exercise and Nutrition Daily) is a coalition of medical professionals, policy makers, educators, health care advocates, and parents who are committed to improving the health of children in the St. Cloud area by reducing the epidemic of childhood obesity.
By coordinating resources and programs in each focus area, BLEND is working to make a significant impact on childhood obesity. We have set a BMI (body-mass index) reduction goal over a ten-year timeline.
