Six months ago my wife and I started running. I am no expert at the sport but have been training hard for my first half-marathon next month.
When it came time to invest in a good pair of running shoes, our research took us to the oldest running store in Minneapolis – GEAR Running Store. Once there, we were greeted and helped by an amazing staff. As amateur runners, they made us feel welcomed and took the time needed to make sure we had the best shoes possible.
Paul Horan and his team were simply amazing. We left the store with some Newton Shoes and since that day, we’ve been running our hearts out.
I was so impressed with Paul that I returned for the simple purpose of interviewing him for this episode.
Enjoy!
About GEAR Running Store and Paul Horan
Established in October 1983, GEAR Running Store was originally located on Excelsior Boulevard in St. Louis Park. After 18 successful years, GEAR relocated to Edina just a mile from Lake Harriet of Southwest Minneapolis.
Over the years, GEAR has employed many elite athletes, sponsored local races, led training groups, hosted winning race teams, and been active in community giving.
In 2009, Paul and Laura Horan, and Kaity and Rob Bowell purchased GEAR Running Store.
Paul, a sub-3-hour marathoner, and his sister Kaity, also an avid runner, were born and raised in Edina. They currently live with their families within walking distance of GEAR. Their collective skills and passion for running make GEAR a friendly and knowledgeable store for runners of all abilities.
