Welcome to Season 2, Episode 7 – and episode #200 – of The Conversation Hub with Marc Vaillancourt! This week, I’m delighted to bring you my conversation with Adalberto Villalobos.
The theme for this season revolves around “Living An Expat Life.” An expat (short for expatriate) is a person temporarily or permanently residing in a country other than that of their citizenship.
About Adalberto Villalobos
Adalberto Villalobos is a Costa Rican expat now living and making a life in St. Cloud, Minnesota. At the young age of 12, he was given an opportunity to come to the United States to spend a year with his aunt and uncle in Michigan.
Upon his return to Costa Rica, his parents started to host foreign exchange students. And that’s how he eventually came to meet his future wife. After a brief courtship and doing the long-distance relationship thing, they joined in marriage in 1994 and started their life together in Minnesota.
Adalberto, his wife and two children, might call Minnesota home, but the Costa Rican culture is an important part of all their lives.
You can learn more about Adalberto by following him on LinkedIn!
Norwegian immigrants came to the United States primarily in the later half of the 19th century and the first few decades of the 20th century. There are more than 4.5 million Norwegian Americans according to the most recent U.S. census, and most live in the Upper Midwest. The largest group – more than 900,000 – live in Minnesota.
Enjoy the conversation!
