On Sunday, millions gathered with friends and family to watch the Super Bowl. For most, it was a chance to see two great teams go head-to-head, but for others it was to watch the series of “new commercials” put out by some of the country’s biggest brand.
I really enjoyed the Radio Shack’s “The 80’s called and want their store back” but my favorite one, by a long shot, was the Coca Cola commercial titled “It’s Beautiful.”
PS – be sure to watch the extra’s, they are definitely worth it!
In my opinion, this commercial represents the beauty that is America – the place where no matter your story, your heritage or the color of your skin – your dreams can come through. As an immigrant to this country, I saw myself in that video and I heard myself sing that song in both French and English. In fact, I saw the place I call home.
Not Everyone Agrees
Unfortunately, some people have a different opinion and believe that America can only be America if we all look the same and speak the same language. Well, hear this … I completely disagree!
The beauty of this nation lies in the sentences, paragraphs and chapters we each contribute to the story that is America. So, instead of complaining about what makes us different, let’s celebrate who we are today regardless of where we came from. Today, we are Americans and that’s worth celebrating!
So here it is, one of the verses of America The Beautiful – in French. Why? Because my French Canadian heritage is one of the many things I contribute to the story of this great nation!
Dieu qu’elle avait sa grâce sur toi,
Et couronner ton bon avec la confrérie
De la mer à la mer brillante! (America The Beautiful – French Translation)
That’s my opinion and I thought I should share it.
Be well and make it a great day!
