With more than 800 million users (as of July 2011), Facebook is part of the fabric of our lives. It’s a way for us to connect with friends, communicate with customers and share our personal story via daily (sometimes more frequently then that!) updates and a great way for people to share pictures.
Facebook is also big business! Each day they collect data and information on the likes and dislikes of their users. Just recently, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced some major changes to the way Facebook work and how we interact with it.
We thought we’d take this week’s episode to discuss the latest changes with two Minnesota based social media experts.

About Our Guests
Jackie Kaufenberg (a.k.a. @jkaufenberg) is a marketer from rural Minnesota and loves writing, social media, and everything web (working with Vivid Image Inc). My most important job is as mom to my 3 young kids. Being present, living each day to the fullest, and having fun along the way… With the help of lots of coffee, yoga, wine and friends.
Kaufenberg believes that social media has changed how people are doing business. Marketing is no longer a one-way conversation. The beauty of social media marketing is how it lets people engage with brands, and then share their passion for the brand with others online.
Lanae Paaverud (a.k.a @socialnetnanny) is an online retailer, with 11 years of experience in many Internet aspects. In running her own website, she quickly learned that Social Networking is an integral part of any business. You can advertise your product, but you also need to put a face to your site…a human aspect.
Paaverud believes that “If people don’t feel comfortable with who you are, or the product you represent, they won’t buy from you.”
If the ultimate goal in life is doing what you love, Lanae is doing exactly that – Social Networking!
